The Game Awards 2015 Nominees Announced

Over the weekend, the list of nominees was announced for The Game Awards 2015, the industry-backed awards show that will take place on December 4 this year.

The majority of the categories are voted on by a panel of 32 judges from games media outlets from around the world, while a handful - predominantly to do with the gaming community - are voted on by the public. The show is produced by Geoff Keighley, with an advisory board that includes the likes of Hideo Kojima, Phil Spencer (Xbox), Shawn Layden (Sony Computer Entertainment America), Reggie Rils-Aime (Nintendo of America), Peter Moore (EA), Eric Hirshberg (Activision), Yves Guillemot (Ubisoft), David Haddad (Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment), Rockstar, and Valve.

The show starts at 3pm on Friday, December 4 (NZDT), and as well as announcing the winners for the various awards, will play host to world-premiere game trailers and "game-inspired musical performances". A live broadcast will be available right here on NZGamer.com, as well as YouTube, Twitch, PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Wii U, Steam, and a number of other services.

I hope Ori and the Blind Forest cleans up. Easily the best game of 2015. The only tough category for me is Best Soundtrack, as both Ori and Halo 5 have excellent soundtracks. I think I'm going to have to give the nod to Ori, though, as it's just such a superb soundtrack that not only stands on its own merits but made that game the complete package that it was.

Ori should really have one of those Game of the Year spots... :/

I agree, Ori is great. Even if a little challenging for me lol
Slightly concerned Fallout 4 is in there. I'm sure it's a great game, but with it only having been released a few weeks by the time of the awards, how fair is it, both from the aspect of it not having time to be fully evaluated, and from the aspect of it being given a 'hype' advantage. And Battlefront isn't even out yet! How can some of these really be fairly in contention?

Happens every year, that's why no one should take these things seriously. It's all about the hype, you get people talking about their GOTY candidates including games that aren't even out yet because they 'just know' it's gonna be in contention for sure lol.

Don't know how games that haven't been out for very long dominate so many of the categories especially when most games come with large day one patches removing final bugs etc. Good luck to those nominated I look forward to seeing the awards.

Never cared for GOTY. I know the games I enjoy will never win as they aren't hugely popular compared to some of the titles there., for example, I feel Halo 5 should earn best shooter, but it'll go to Destiny or CoD mainly because of their huge followings. For best soundtrack I couldn't chose between Ori and Halo 5, as both are fantastic.
