Destiny's New Raid Won't Be Available at The Taken King's Launch

King's Fall, the new raid for Destiny won't be available at the launch of The Taken King on September 15, director Luke Smith confirmed in an interview with IGN at PAX Prime.

“Its not going to be available on day one. We definitely have a plan for when it’s going to be available. I’m not going to announce the plan for it [here at PAX]," Smith said. "But I promise for people who are excited about the raid will know when it's time to take time off work. We’ll give em’ a heads up."

King's Fall will be Destiny's third raid, after Vault of Glass and Crota's End. and according to Bungie, it's "the biggest raid we've ever created." It takes place on the Dreadnaught, a hive ship that's also home to a number of other activities, like bounties and the Court of Oryx, a "player-instigated public event that pits you against different combinations of different bosses in different scenarios."

Destiny: The Taken King comes out on September 15 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.

Bungie have since tweeted:

The Raid for Destiny: The Taken King is done and will be released hot on the heels of launch. Gear up and get ready.

Doesn't really give an ETA but seems a tad earlier than their first indication.

Yep that sounds like Destiny, "It will get better eventually guys!" Keep fetching moon rocks or some sh*t in the mean time, also here's a shiny rocket launcher!

Looking more forward to the 2.0 update than the overpriced DLC, wish Im passing on. Been a fun ride full of love and hate but ultimately its time to move on. Plenty of better games to play and get through.

Despite the negativity here in the comments from a (largely) a bunch of people who don't even play the game, I am eagerly anticipating the new DLC and updates. Looking forward to the UI changes and hoping they can really kick start the story, which admittedly should have been done at launch. Nothing beats the gameplay though and really can't wait to going in blind to the new raid. Some of the most satisfying and enjoyable gaming experiences that I've ever had have come from completing the raids!
