Mission Impossible Stunt Inspired By Nathan Drake

Mission Impossible Stunt Inspired By Nathan Drake

Christopher McQuarrie, director of the upcoming Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, has stated that Nathan Drake's antics in Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception were an inspiration for the film's highlight set piece.

Responding to the question of how he and Tom Cruise, the film's star and producer, came up with the plane stunt McQuarrie tweeted "Group effort/ Uncharted."

To compare the two scenes, check out some footage of Uncharted 3's Cargo Plane Mission, and a trailer for Rogue Nation which features a few shots of Cruise's white knuckle stunt. Cruise, who has a track record of intense stunts which he performs himself, held onto the side of a plane as it took off for the film. The stunt comes after Cruise scaled Dubai's Burj Khalifa in the series' previous film, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

Justin Richmond, who served as creative director on Uncharted 3, was very pleased with the comment, claiming that McQuarrie had made his month.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation is released in New Zealand on the 30th of July 2015.
