It's been confirmed that the next Mass Effect game, which is currently in development at BioWare Montreal, will have an online multiplayer mode.
Chris Wynn, senior development director, recently tweeted a link to a job opening for an Online Producer, who would "create and champion the vision of the multi-player, connected experiences and online features of the game."
Things are getting real now and I need an excellent Producer to come shape online for the next Mass Effect - http://t.co/L4G3OBAn87— Chris Wynn (@The1Wynn) February 11, 2015
In a follow-up tweet, Wynn stressed that multiplayer wouldn't detract from the next Mass Effect's singleplayer component, which he said would be "massive".
If anyone is concerned that online will take away from single player, I assure you that SP will be MASSIVE in the next Mass Effect.— Chris Wynn (@The1Wynn) February 12, 2015
The new game hasn't been given an official title yet, and is casually referred to as Mass Effect 4. Not a lot is known about it at this stage, but it won't star Commander Shepard and sees the return of the Mako vehicle from the first game.
