Alien, The Last of Us, Assassin's Creed Picked for Writers Guild Award

Alien: Isolation, The Last of Us: Left Behind, Assassin's Creed Unity, and Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry and all been nominated by the Writers Guild of America for an award celebrating excellence in videogame writing.

The Videogame Writing Award will be among the many accolades given out at the 2015 Writers Guild Awards, to be held in simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York City on February 14. The award celebrates excellence in scriptwriting for videogames.

Nominees are chosen from a pool of eligible games, being those released the year prior and featuring Writers Guild of America members among their writing credits. The judging panel is composed of "Videogame Writers Caucus members and/or Writers Guild members active in videogame writing."

The Videogame Writing Award was introduced in 2008 (for games released in 2007), and was won that year by Dead Head Fred. Winners since then include Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, and The Last of Us.

Good group of games there...however having played none of those yet I couldn't say exactly which I'd pick although it is interesting to see that Assassins Creed has won a few times already so would lean to that maybe taking it out.

Only members of the guild who write it or are in the credits can push for the award. Wonder how many games were possibly in the pool? Must limit the selection ALOT.
Obviously have Guild members writing for Ubisoft Montreal and Naughty Dog due to the repeat winners. Wonder if any at others like Bioware who write excellent storylines and dialogue ie Mass Effect, Dragon Age?

Probably because a Writers Guild of America member wasn't involved in its script. This limits the pool of games possible for selection massively.

I'd vote for the Last of Us - excellent game and story. I cant see why Alien Isolation is there- great gameplay but the story was predictable- even the last sequence. Havent played the Assasins creed ( yet)

Last of Us. Hands down awesome and brilliant story! If there was an Uncharted game up there, Naughty Dog would have two games nominated haha one of my favourite developers
