December's VIP prize was a PlayStation TV micro-console with three PS4 games: LittleBigPlanet 3, The Last of Us Remastered, and inFAMOUS Second Son.
We're pleased to announce that the winner is... Vicx!
Thanks to our friends at PlayStation NZ, we've got one of the limited PlayStation 4 20th Anniversary Edition systems to give away to a lucky NZGamer.com reader! The console won't be available in stores, so this competition will be one of the only ways to get your hands on one in New Zealand.
We had over 500 entries, with people sharing their most cherished PlayStation memories, making the decision for who wins the competition a tough one. However, the folks at PlayStation have drawn a winner from some of the best entries, and that winner is... Silvon!
Here's his winning entry:
My favourite Playstation memory is back when Final Fantasy VII first released. I didn't have a Playstation back then, I'd been using a Sega Mega Drive and suddenly friends at school were telling me about this amazing game that had just released on Playstation. I went to a friend's house where I managed to watch him play through the first half an hour or so of the game and I absolutely had to have the game.
I was 12 when FFVII released and I'd wanted a Playstation but never had the money. After seeing FFVII though I was determined to have it, and so I started doing any odd random job for any family member or close friend that would pay me for it, saved everything I got and pooled everything I already had and a month later (which to me seemed like forever) managed to get a Playstation and FFVII. I played FFVII a lot over that Summer, talked about where I was up to with friends, how they were doing, what we were struggling with, how to defeat the optional bosses and really had a great time with it.
What was also cool was that knowing how hard I'd worked to save and buy the Playstation, my parents also let me choose one game to buy when we went away on holiday over the Summer, and so after an hour searching through a large gaming store (I lived in Invercargill which had no gaming stores at the time, so this was a huge novelty) I finally went with Suikoden and fell in love with that game too which has lead to me owning every Suikoden game released in the West and it becoming my favourite series, which continued on into PS2 as well. :)
That's my favourite PS memory, a glorious Summer with two of the best RPGs on PS1 which lead to even more great memories on future PS consoles. Good luck to everybody else as well, great competition!!! :)
Congratulations to both our winners, and thanks to everyone for reading NZGamer.com and making these competitions possible!
