Sony Computer Entertainment's Santa Monica Studio revealed that they are working on a new God of War game at PlayStation Experience this weekend.
During the God of War Retrospective panel yesterday, Cory Barlog, director of God of War II, said "Yes, we are making another God of War." Santa Monica Studio then posted that quote on Twitter, before removing it and tweeting, "Don't tell anyone what Cory Barlog just said."
According to IGN, who were present for the panel, Barlog didn't offer any other details on the game, aside from confirming that it won't be a prequel. Barlog said he hoped to share more within "the next year or two," and couldn't comment on whether Kratos would return as the protagonist.
Barlog worked on God of War as lead animator and God of War II as game director, before leaving Sony for unknown reasons. In 2012, it was announced that he had joined Crystal Dynamics to work on the Tomb Raider reboot, and then in August 2013, he revealed that he was returning to Santa Monica Studio and putting together a team for a new project.
In other God of War-related news, Sony revealed during the PlayStation Experience Keynote yesterday that the PlayStation version of hit indie game Shovel Knight would include Kratos as a boss character.
