DC Comics will publish digital-first comic book series' based on Mortal Kombat X and The Wolf Among Us, they announced over the weekend at New York Comic Con.
The Mortal Kombat X comic will serve as a precursor to the game of the same name, which is due out in April next year. The comic series will begin in January 2015, written by Shawn Kittelsen, with interior art by Dexter Soy and covers by Ivan Reis.
Fables: The Wolf Among Us, meanwhile, will launch in December this year, and ties into Telltale's The Wolf Among Us - itself an adaptation of Bill Willingham's long-running comic series, Fables. The game was a prequel to Fables, and so Fables: The Wolf Among Us is expected to also take place prior to the main Fables series. Matthew Sturges and Dave Justus are on writing duty, with Steve Sadowski, Travis Moore, and Shawn McManus doing the interior art and Chrissie Zullo responsible for covers.
Both Fables: The Wolf Among Us and Mortal Kombat X will be released digitally first, with physical releases to follow. Fables: The Wolf Among Us will be the first title from DC's Vertigo imprint to be part of the Digital Firsts line-up.
Finally, DC also announced Wonder Woman '77, a Digital First series based on the Wonder Woman TV show from the 1970s, starring Lynda Carter. The series will launch in December, with six weekly digital chapters that will later be collected in two print issues.
