In an interview with Edge Magazine (via CVG), Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann has said visual fidelity in the remastered PlayStation 4 version will outclass the already impressive cutscenes seen previously on the PlayStation 3 version.
Druckmann said while a variety of tricks were used to make the cutscenes in the PS3 version, the computing power of the PS4 meant assets could be displayed at their high-fidelity resolutions all the time.
"Our cinematics are now running at 1080p and 60fps, and that involved rendering them all from scratch. It's interesting that now [instead of a technical bottleneck], the bottleneck is 'Can we fit all this on the disc?'," said Druckmann.
The PS4 version of The Last of Us is expected later this year.
