The Last of Us Artist Michael Knowland Leaves Naughty Dog

The Last of Us Artist Michael Knowland Leaves Naughty Dog

Michael Knowland, lead character artist for the award-winning The Last of Us, is the latest in a series of high-profile departures from Naughty Dog.

It was revealed by Twitter user superannuation last night that Knowland's LinkedIn profile says he left Naughty Dog in April 2014. The reasons for his leaving has not been revealed, but it follows a string of other exits from the company.

Last week, The Last of Us lead artist Nate Wells confirmed he had left the company to join indie developer Giant Sparrow, while Uncharted series creative director Amy Hennig and Justin Richmond, who had been the game director for the upcoming PS4 Uncharted game, both left in March. Hennig went on to join EA's Visceral Games to work on a new Star Wars project, while Richmond joined League of Legends developer Riot Games.

WHAT IS GOING ON! I can't see why so many people would be leaving unless something big was stirring behind the scenes.

So what's the likelihood Uncharted will release BEFORE the next Olympics? It's got to be 20% right?

Seems to happen on most gaming sites I go to, seems to worry people whenever somebody leaves ND but until they make a bad game I'm not overly concerned.

Well probably not if the janitor leaves?! ;-) But these are their TOP shelf talent leaving. As long as Lead This and Director That are leaving it'll continue to be news for sure.

Who's to say it isn't natural attrition? People leave places, sometimes at the same time.

I'm sure there's plenty of talented people to fill those shoes.
