VGX 2013 Award Winners

VGX 2013 Award Winners

Spike's video game awards show, VGX, has wrapped up for the year. As well as showcasing some world premieres of upcoming games, the awards show highlighted some of the best game of 2013.

In a surprise twist on the standard award show formula, the biggest award of the night - Game of the Year - was announced early in the night. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it went to Grand Theft Auto V (which we scored 9.8/10), though the other nominees provided some fierce competition.

Below are all the award categories, with winners in bold at the top of each list and other nominees following them.

lots of strange winners there? If Naughty Dog only released The Last of Us this year and Rockstar North only released GTA V......how is it that Naughty Dog won Studio of the year when GTA V won Game of the Year?.......huh?

I'm just surprised Titanfall is the most anticipated and GTAV got topped by assassins creed. But having just looked at Titanfall again, I'll allow it.

I thought the NZ Gamer Forza 5 review was too harsh, you need to get with the program solider.

Typical new console launch racers have traditionally been ridge racer, Daytona, Sega rally arcade types maybe NFS if your lucky. Bottom line to get a massive game like Forza 5 on launch is nothing short of brilliant.

How did everyone find the format of VGX? Did you enjoy it? Did you find it too different from Spike Video Game Awards? Was Joel McHale a better host than Samuel L. Jackson?
