EA have announced that November 7th is "N7 day", in celebration of the Mass Effect series. Players that log in to Mass Effect 3's multiplayer mode between 9pm tonight and 8:59pm tomorrow night will unlock an "ultra-rare" weapon, as well as six consumable items - the combination of which EA are referring to as the N7 Day Loyalty Pack.
The promotion is, at least in part, in celebration of the release of the Mass Effect Trilogy - a collection that includes all three games in the series. Unfortunately, that collection isn't actually available at retail in New Zealand until at least next week - too late for new players to participate in N7 day.
PC gamers can purchase the bundle from the Origin digital store ($89.99) from today, but PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners (as well as PC gamers that prefer physical copies of games) will need to wait until November 16th to buy the collection.
The Mass Effect Trilogy, which lets PlayStation 3 owners play the original Mass Effect for the first time, has a recommended retail price of $119 on consoles and $109 on PC.
Update: EA have confirmed that the collection will be available next week as originally planned, on all three platforms. Story text updated to reflect this information.
