Blizzard have updated the Diablo III community site to include a Launch Day Preparation Guide for the game, which releases in New Zealand next week. We've filtered out the pertinent information and converted the times and dates to suit our Kiwi audience, below.
The US servers, which are required to play Diablo III, will go live on Tuesday, 15 May 2012, at 7:01:00 p.m.
The US servers are our "Home" servers (you can find out more about that here) and will be the only servers you can play on until Blizzard unlock Global Play (currently scheduled to take place at the same time as the US servers go live).
If you are sourcing the game digitally, direct from Blizzard (either by way of the Annual Pass for World of Warcraft or by purchasing the game on the Blizzard Store), you can download the installation files (around 7GB) now by logging in to Battle.net. Blizzard recommend you do this now, rather than later, to alleviate any load on the servers which might delay your ability to get in and play the game.
However, you will be unable to install the title until Blizzard enable the feature, which won't happen until Tuesday, 15 May 2012 at 3:01:00 a.m.
Blizzard recommend you complete this procedure as soon in the day as you can, lest you run into any issues with the installation.
To play Diablo III, you will need to have assigned your Battle.net account a Battletag. This new feature will let you connect with people playing any of Blizzard's games in the future, but for now it's only required for Diablo III.
Again, to save load on the servers and reduce risk of any delays on launch day, Blizzard recommend you log on to Battle.net and do it now
