Zen Studios (Pinball FX, Zen Pinball) have announced Zen Pinball 2, for release soon on both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. The game, which will be a free update for owners of Zen Pinball, will be backward compatible with all previous Zen Pinball DLC tables, which will all receive physics and graphics updates as a part of the transition to the new title.
The game was announced this morning on The PlayStation Blog, where Zsolt Kigyossy, the Managing Director of Zen Studios, described the new game as "our most advanced and sophisticated pinball platform yet", which will be "the ultimate pinball experience on PlayStation".
New users will also be able to download the base game for free, which will then give them trial-mode access to the 26 different pinball tables that will be available at launch. Content purchased for the game will work on both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of the title, with no additional purchase required.
The title also sports a number of new features, such as tighter social integration (including leaderboards and Facebook) and stereoscopic 3D support. There are new tables planned, too, including one based on "one of PopCap’s most popular franchises".
Once we know the precise release date, we'll let you know.
