All Blacks Rugby Challenge Delayed?

After weeks of speculation it's been announced that All Blacks Rugby Challenge will be out 'no later than the 30th of September'.

Before this time the official line was the game would release prior to the Rugby World Cup 2011 kick off on September 9th.

Announced on the Official Rugby Challenge Facebook page, Sebastian Giompalolo from Tru Blu Entertainment Pty. Ltd had this message for eager gamers -

'Dear Rugby Challenge Fans,

We know there is some frustration and speculation on the release date for this title. We have invested an enormous amount of funds and effort in this title, and if we could have released it yesterday, we would have.

There are two general paths that can be taken when creating video games:

1) The release date and budget are set, and you work within these parameters to complete the game. The advantage is that everyone knows the release date. The drawback is that over a two year period it is easy to miscalculate your budget and time. This leads to a game that will likely fall short in features and quality; or

2) There is an estimation made for the release date/budget, and work on the project commences. The drawback is there is no set release date however, this option allows you to continue working on the game until you are satisfied that the product is of the highest standard.

Tru Blu Entertainment Pty. Ltd. have chosen the latter path and make no apology for the choice, as we believe this is the only way to produce a quality game.

Our initial intention was to create a great game featuring the great Jonah Lomu and release upon completion. There was no plan made to release prior to or during the World Cup. We later found out that we had a competitor and the race was on to release before them. We must apologise to our fans as we will not make this deadline, but we can assure you that the wait will not be much longer.

We are still on track to release before the end of Quarter 3, which is no later than the 30th of September.

Please be patient. Soon you will have the pleasure of playing the best rugby game ever.

Yours Truly,

Sebastian Giompaolo

MD, Tru Blu Entertainment Pty. Ltd'

This release window gives the upcoming release of Rugby World Cup 2011 releasing August 26th, a decent time advantage to market.

They've been saying that they "hope" to be releasing RC sometime in September for many months now... So they are still on track.

But they originally said back in the beginning that it would be released in time for the World Cup.

I'm glad they are letting us know the situation. Good things take time... I would rather they take that little extra time to make sure everything is all good, then rush it out with problems...

You have left the exact same comment on every article about ABRC if you dont like spots games why the hell you look at them? Some of us actually like our sports games, there are plenty of action/adventure games that are out there already, pick 1 and go play it and leave us that are actually interested in this game to it!

I'll wait for the quality title.
I'm happy with Sidhe polishing it up.
Better than b*tching after release about all the bugs.

What???? Don't you know FPS are the the only REAL games this Gen, Action/Adventure tis tis, thats so 1998 ;)

On a more serious note, wishful thinking would be the delay is due to the addition of more Official Licences?

There is no delay and there is no more "new" licenses. But there are still some licenses that have not been announced yet.

This is not a rugby world cup only game like the RWC 2011, so i don't see why it has to be released before the event, although it would be nice. I will probably enjoy the Super 15 mode more than the world cup mode.

They would of liked to get it released just before the World Cup so they could capitalize on the "hype" around the World Cup. In other words, they would've got more sales if they released it just before the World Cup.

But a few months ago, they already said that they were hoping for a release date sometime in September.

Gutted on the delay, but I'm sure it will be well worth the wait. Played the RWC demo, exactly like Rugby 06-08. Won't bother buying that game. Bring on ABRC!!!
