Call of Duty Elite Details Leaked

The Wall Street Journal have released information about Activision's new paid Call of Duty service, Call of Duty Elite.

The service, intended to be announced in detail tomorrow morning, provides tiered access to content for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 above and beyond what is included on the disk. Notably, subscribers will get access to additional maps and detailed statistics based on their in-game performance.

If you're worried about having to pay above and beyond the cost of the game and your internet connection to play online, though, don't be - the WSJ article suggests that players will be able to play online without signing up for the service. Non-subscribers will also be able to access some of the Elite functionality, including facebook-like social media tools.

More specific detail is still somewhat lacking but it is expected that, once the deadline hits, some additional information will become available and that at next week's E3 conference in LA, further information will be released.

Once we get some official information, we'll get it up on the site as soon as possible.

I can't go after paying a high RRP (traditionally CoD games have had a higher RRP) for a game to then pay a monthly fee to get additional stuff. I'd admit I've played two weeks+ of most CoD games, but I wouldn't pay for a monthly sub.

And thus COD becomes even more overpriced.
