Half-Life 2 Voice Actor Robert Guillaume Passes Away

American actor Robert Guillaume has passed away, aged 89. The long-time performer is better known in gaming for playing Eli Vance in Half-Life 2.

Guillaume passed away at his Los Angeles home, after complications with prostate cancer. Prominent performances include lead roles in 1977 series Soap, and its spinoff Benson. He also voiced Rafiki in The Lion King, for which he won a Grammy. He suffered a stroke in 1999, but was able to continue working.

In 2004 he voiced scientist and resistance leader Dr. Eli Vance in Half Life 2. Former writer for the series Marc Laidlaw shared how the team came about casting Guillaume for the role:
