Destiny 2 Datamined on PC, DLC Details Emerge

The PC version of Destiny 2 launched yesterday, and already industrious dataminers on Reddit have scoured the game for details. What they found were unused dialogue lines pointing to upcoming DLC, references to returning characters, new locations, in-game events, and more.

Possible spoilers ahead.

The upcoming Mercury DLC – slated to hit this December – is repeatedly referenced. Lines also mention important figure Warlock Osiris, the Lighthouse, and Rise of Iron character Shiro.

Saladin also references the Rasputin-themed Warmind DLC in his dialogue – content which will release next year.

There are also dozens of voice lines, talking about Destiny 1 side-mission locations – including the Cosmodrome, the Moon’s Hellmouth, Mars, Venus, Phobos, the Reef, and the Dreadnaught. These are all made in reference to the Red Legion’s appearance, which as Eurogamer suggests, means we could be returning to these areas.

The Prison of Elders – a wave-based arena from the first game – is also mentioned, alongside other seasonal events like Crimson Days, The Dawning, and Festival of the Lost. Bungie confirmed that the latter wouldn’t be appearing this year.

Other locations are also mentioned; Jovian Moon, Ganymede, and The Myriad. It’s possible that these were names for pre-existing zones, which changed during development.

Ikora also makes reference to a new Fallen faction called the “House of Dusk,” who are said to worship The Darkness.

Additional dialogue also talks about Cayde’s death – a plot point which never occurs in Destiny 2. It’s possible that this is left-over dialogue from a re-write of the script, as the story was reportedly rebooted during development.

Bungie have yet to comment.

And this is why games are hesitant to come to PC - the game came out two days ago and it's already been down-trou'ed by the PC community.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Maybe instead of being hesitant about releasing on PC they should be hesitant about putting files for future content in the release build.

This. Game had to be delayed but it already has dlc prep in it?
Makes one wonder if it was just delayed to encourage double dipper sales.

I like this about pc gamers, they don't like being f**ked over, and paying to get f**k over.

the game is pretty bland tbh, point at, kill, repeat
we can't have nice things? we have lots of nice things
people are getting banned just for using 3rd party software, which is complete bullsh*t,

and don't get me started on Activision, getting a patent to match you with better players, just to advertise microtransactions to you?

The port is superb *it has to be, to be on Battlenet* but trying to block 3rd party software *and people even getting banned by it* is not cool. Most pc gamers use 3rd party software,
The Visuals are gorgeous and the frames are high, of course.
and apparently there is actually a story this time, so that's nice, but i will not support Microtransactions in full priced games.

To be fair alot of stuff was datamined from the console version too, incl certain NPCs , Strange Coins, Prison of Elders etc. And Bungie have come out to some of the rumours to set things somewhat straight but saying alot of things are merely leftover artifacts from Destiny 1.
All this datamined stuff just sets up rumour, thats all.

But they also swing too far and become sni**ering crybabies with nothing constructive to say or give credit where its due. Some forums or game communities are just way too toxic.

Bungies 3rd party software thing was designed to not allow cheat software to inject code, which is all far too common in PC gaming, but Im guessing it needs alot of fine tuning if even they dont know why ppl are getting banned, wither that or the software is injecting code without peoples knowledge and thats causing problems and its sensing it and straight up swinging the ban hammer on them.

As for that patent. Yeah lets just hope Activision Blizzard never use it, because that is utter BS.

We're talking about framerate monitors and Discord/Mumble overlays here...
