Paramount Picks up Rights to Sonic the Hedgehog Film

Paramount has acquired the rights to develop a feature-length film about Sonic the Hedgehog. According to The Hollywood Reporter (via IGN), Sony Pictures – who revealed last year that they had the rights – put  the movie into turnaround.

Deadpool director Tom Miller is still onboard as executive producer, along with Neal Moritz’ production company Original Film. Moitz has produced every Fast and Furious film, in addition to 21 Jump Street, and Evan Almighty. Jeff Fowler will make his directorial debut.

The film will be a live-action/CGI hybrid. No release date or further details have been announced.

Angus Deacon reviewed the latest throwback game Sonic Mania, scoring it an 8.2. He called it a “nostalgic platforming remix-o-rama made with love.” Upcoming 3D game Sonic Forces is set to hit PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on November 7.

Could be a good way to get kids back into playing the games, if its done well like a Pixar movie. Dont know about live-action though, sounds like a terrible idea imo.
