Saints Row Developer Sees Big Layoffs

Saints Row developer Volition has been hit with over 30 layoffs, including general manager Dan Cermak. Previously, the team had around 200 employees.

According to a report from Kotaku, sources say that parent company Deep Silver was dissatisfied with team’s latest game Agents of Mayhem. The publisher hasn’t surfaced its own sales data, but the game floundered in the UK charts.

Brian McDonald reviewed Agents of Mayhem, giving it a 6.7. “You’ll play it once, have a good time, and forget about it.”

Deep Silver has yet to comment. We’ll keep you updated if they do.

Volition was founded in 1996. Saints Row was their most successful series, they also created the Red Faction franchise. The studio was scooped up by Deep Silver following THQ’s bankruptcy in 2013.

Its a shame but at least its not a closure which we see alot of. Hopefully they can get things back on track. All I've wanted to see from them was an upgrade from Red Faction Guerilla... and Armageddon wasn't it.

When you have a good thing going, why stop and risk it all? Should've just made Saint's Row 5.
