The Weekend Chat: TGS 2017

The Tokyo Game Show is in full swing this week, with publishers and developers descending on Japan’s largest city to show off their latest products. This year saw multiple, large-scale games announced, with the likes of Left Alive and a surprise Final Fantasy IX port on PS4.

Last year we talked about TGS, and how meaningful it was to western audiences. Given the hype people have expressed over this year’s announcements, that question is no longer relevant. So this week, we’re keeping it simple.

What was your favourite announcement from TGS this year?

Was it Left Alive, and its veteran team of developers? Or maybe playing with cats in VR, thanks to Neko Atsume?

Seeing 9 is getting ported made me happy, then sad they skipped 8, then neutral as I won't have the time to play any as I've been planning to replay 7 for ages and still haven't.

Neko Atsume VR might tempt me to buy in... but tbh I could get a lot of real cats for that kind of money.

8 was always my favourite and never had a chance to play 9, but yes hard to find the time to play it!

Monster Hunter World was the biggie for me, was really glad to see the mechanics of the new flagship monster.
