PUBG Breaks Concurrent Player Record on Steam

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is going from strength-to-strength. The battle royale shooter has dethroned Dota 2, hitting a new record for concurrent player count on Steam.

The Early Access game saw over 1.3 million players log in over the weekend. That number crept even higher in the time since, reaching 1,349,413 concurrent players. This news follows a report earlier in the month, which saw the game hit a peak of 1.1 million.

Previous record holder Dota 2 had a concurrent player count of 1,295,114. This feat is impressive, given that Dota 2 is a free-to-play title; PUBG comes with a conventional price tag.

PUBG launched in Steam Early Access in March. Since then, the game has gone on to sell millions of copies. It currently has over 10 million confirmed sales.

they might be using programs to stop the game registering as afk, idk.

some items in the game sell for $100, if i wasn't lazy i would try to buy games with them.

It's not AFK detections, they just changed how rewards work, you don't get any currency if you die without actually doing anything.
