After briefly becoming the most played game on Steam, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has hit another milestone. The battle royale game surpassed 1 million concurrent players late last week, hitting a peak of 1,028,275.
[Update] 12/09/2017, 9:43AM. As of yesterday, the game hit a new peak of 1,111,155 concurrent players.
For context, Dota 2 – a free-to-play title – had a peak of 766,298 concurrent players last week. As GameSpot points out, that isn’t enough to break the record. Dota 2 still holds that number, with 1,295,114 concurrent players.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds released on Steam Early Access earlier this year. Since then, it’s gone from strength-to-strength. The game has sold over 10 million copies, just six months after launch. It’s also slated to arrive on Xbox One later this year.
