The speed running community got together over the weekend to raise money for those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Games Done Quick generated over $225,000 USD in donations.
The event – named Harvey Relief Done Quick – was organised by the team in just a few days. As Eurogamer notes, the event received over 350 speed-runner applicants within a day of the announcement.
The charity stream raised their money for the Houston Food Bank, which provides “food and supplies in the short term and for many months to come to residents in southeast Texas who will struggle to rebuild their lives.”
Games streamed during the event included Prey, Mega Man X, and the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.
Hurricane Harvey is one of first major natural disasters to hit the United States in years. The storm mostly hit Texas and Louisiana.
