Destiny 2: Where to Get It

The latest entry to Bungie’s sci-fi shooter launches next week for console. Destiny 2 gives players new missions to fight through, more loot to discover, and new abilities to unlock. We figured it’d be a good time to wrap up the different places where you can grab the game, and the deals you can expect.

These deals were available at the time of writing. As stock runs out, availability may change.

Digitally via the PlayStation and Microsoft Stores ($109.95)

If having the game primed and ready to go at minute-one is your thing, digital versions are available. If you pre-order before release, you’ll also get access to some in-game extras:

  • Coldheart Exotic Rifle
  • Kill-Tracker Ghost
  • Salute Emote

PS4 players will also unlock a Dynamic theme.

Digitally with Expansion Pass, via the PlayStation and Microsoft Stores ($159.95)

Pre-ordering this bundle will grant you the same content as above, but will also give access to the currently-unannounced expansions.

Digital Deluxe Edition, via the PlayStation and Microsoft Stores ($169.95)

Picking up this version before launch will grant you access to the previously mentioned pre-order bonuses. You’ll also get the Expansion Pass, and some extra in-game items:

  • Legendary Sword
  • Legendary Player Emote
  • Cabal Empire Themed Emblem

EB Games Pre-Order - PS4, Xbox ($109.99)

If you like packing your shelves with shiny cases and models, then several outlets still have your back with physical media. Pre-ordering from EB will get you the exotic weapon Coldheart, and a bonus Cayde figurine.

EB Games Steel Case Bundle - PS4, Xbox ($119.99)

Pre-ordering this edition will get you a bonus Cayde figurine as above, but it also comes with some extras. It comes with in-game items like the exotic weapon Coldheart, and the Killtracker Ghost. The game comes housed in a shiny, metal case.

EB Games PS4 Pro Glacier White Bundle ($739.00)

If you’ve yet to grab a PS4, and you’re a fan of time-limited hardware, this bundle might be the thing for you. The bundle features a copy of the Deluxe Edition, and a white 1TB PlayStation 4 Pro and controller. Pre-ordering also gives you the exotic weapon Coldheart.

Mighty Ape Pre-Order - PS4, Xbox ($92.00)

Pre-ordering this version of the game delivers the Coldheart exotic, and a poster.

Mighty Ape PS4 Collector’s Edition ($399.99)

If you like upsizing, this bundle comes packed with a bunch of stuff, including:

  • Destiny 2 + Expansion Pass in a Steel book case
  • In-game extras, as seen in the Deluxe Editions
  • Destiny 2 branded bag
  • Frontier kit, with a USB charger, paracord, and solar blanket
  • Cabal-themed Collector’s Box

JB Hi-Fi Pre-order - PS4, Xbox ($92.00)

The black-and-yellow store has a stock-standard version of the game

JB Hi-Fi PS4 Slim Bundle ($569.00)

If you’ve yet to grab a PS4, this bundle comes with a Slim 1TB version of the console, packed in with a copy of the game.

Perhaps worth mentioning is that the pre-load is already available for PS4 )and probably Xbox). There will also be a day one patch over 6gb which is usually already shipped with the digital pre-loads, but will have to download when playing by disk. Just a warning incase anyone is expecting to play as soon as they get the disk - it's a hefty update!

Confirmed.
Pre-load is done, and already has the 1.01 update installed.
Locked and loaded and ready to rumble.

Confirmed pre-load for Xbox is now available, including any and all extras ordered with the various digital editions.
Apparently, we could be the first to play in the globe as servers are supposed to unlock midnight (ie the morning of) Wednesday 6 Sept.
Raid opens at Thurs 14 Sept 5am (if my time conversion is correct).

They are quite cute. Pretty good quality too from the one I've been playing with for the last month.

Honestly, go into an EB next month and ask if they have any spare. You might get lucky.

So if you can't play the game until the servers are online, why can't people pickup and preload a physical copy in advance? Just thinking out loud.

Spare preorder bonuses happen all the time. Though, maybe two weeks after might be safer. EB holds prrordered games for up to a week generally, and not everyone one picks up their preorders so there are often spare codes and stuff lying around. Lord knows my store has a million uncharted 4 and watch dogs 2 codes left.

From what I remember, the destiny servers launched at 12am nz time. Though I don't think the expansions did?
