Nintendo Is Shutting Down the Miiverse This November

Nintendo is shutting down the Miiverse. The Wii U and 3DS social network will cease operating on November 8, at 6PM NZST.

The service released five years ago, alongside the launch of the Wii U. It allowed users to draw pictures with their device, and share them online. As Gamasutra points out, it was also integrated into several other games. For example, players will no longer be able to comment on each other’s Super Mario Maker levels.

This also means the WaraWara Plaza on the Wii U’s home screen will no longer populate with Miiverse drawings and messages.

If you’re particularly fond of posts you’ve made, Nintendo is offering a service to download your post history. You can access this by selecting “Post History Download Information” on the main page of the internet browser version of the Miiverse.

:( I liked posting funny pictures and drawings to Miiverse. It was a nice little 'memory collection' of all the games I had played. :(
