Sony is going to push out new firmware patch for PlayStation 4 owners soon. Update 5.0 will let PlayStation 4 Pro owners stream content out to Twitch at 1080p and 60FPS, among other features.
The company has yet to detail the patch publicly, but Eurogamer has obtained a copy of the update’s release notes.
Players will also be able to follow any user – like Twitter or Xbox One. Previously, this had been limited to a curated list of gaming personalities, developers, and official game pages. According to the documentation, this is to “encourage more sharing of content and more interactions.”
According to the publication, we’ll also see an overhaul of the console’s master/sub account system. Family accounts will be able to have several child accounts tied to them, with unique parental controls for each one. Adult accounts can also send requests to each other to join the same family.
System notifications will now be surfaced via the Quick Menu, so you don’t need to head back to your home screen to see them. Download/upload statuses can also be checked here too.
No release date has been given for firmware update 5.0. Eurogamer speculates that we’ll see it in the near future, alongside the launch of an updated PlayStation App.
