Koei Tecmo has today confirmed the platforms for their latest in the long-line of historical hack-and-slash games. Dynasty Warriors 9 will arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
As was revealed last year, the game will be a departure for the series. While the signature action will remain largely the same – including its combo-heavy gameplay and fights against multiple enemies – it’ll be heading open world. Players will be able to traverse a seamless version of ancient China, featuring multiple different biomes.
Context sensitive actions are also arriving. As GameSpot reports, players will be able to scale walls and mountains with a grappling hook, and ignite oil barrels.
No release date has been announced for Dynasty Warriors 9. Spinoff game Warriors All-Stars is set to release on September 1 for PlayStation 4 and PC. The game features characters from multiple different Koei Tecmo series.
