Father Builds Functioning Overwatch D.Va Mech for Daughter

If you need a news story to brighten your day, this might be the one. Overwatch fan and cosplayer Mike Carambat has created a functioning D.Va mech suit for his daughter.

Carambat (who goes by Reddit user retroresource) shared the creation on social media. As Kotaku reports, the costume is sophisticated; the torso serves as a steering mechanism, while an electric wheelchair was repurposed to make the base.

It also has lights that change colour when the guns are fired, and a sound system with D.Va voiceovers.

The suit apparently cost under $1000 USD to build, with production having started back in January. His daughter will be wearing the cosplay at MechaCon, Louisiana this weekend. She’ll also be repping it at Dragoncon in Atlanta, come September.

It's powered by LOVE... that's so amazing. It's like her payback for all those years in preschool writing and drawing pictures about how she loves her family :p #Dadgoals #imadethisforyou
