PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Sells over 5 Million Copies

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds continues to be one of the most popular games on the market, and it’s just hit another milestone. The 100-player battle royale has sold over 5 million copies.

This news comes from Steamspy (via GameSpot), a tool which surfaces Steam data tied to users’ accounts. At time of writing, the game has roughly 5.19 million owners. The number is impressive, given the game’s Early Access launch in March.

Late last month, it was announced the game had sold 4 million copies.

The game was set to leave early access in September, but was pushed back to the end of 2017 to meet internal quality standards from developer Bluehole. “We will continue to push weekly and monthly updates until full launch as we want to ensure that the game we release is the best version possible,” wrote the game’s creator, Brendan ‘PlayerUnknown’ Greene.

First-person servers are on the way, as well as a new map. The game is also releasing on Xbox One.later this year.
