PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Getting First-Person Servers

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Getting First-Person Servers

First-person servers are in the works for popular battle royale game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Creator Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene made the announcement on Twitter today, with the updated slated next month for NA/EU solo and duo matches.

Greene continued, saying that the mode would be extended to other regions and match-types once it’s been polished.

Currently, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds can be played in third-person, with the action switching to first-person for more precise control. Because the camera can be rotated in third-person, this allows players to peek around cover without putting themselves at-risk.

As IGN reports, the first-person servers won’t be included in the default queue. “You will not be forced to play on 1st person servers,” Greene added.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds released on Steam Early Access in March. Since then, the game has sold over 4 million copies. A new desert map is currently in the works, with what many speculate to be a new mode of transport too. The game is set to release in Q4 2017.
