Developer Creative Assembly announced a new spinoff series for their hit historic strategy game. Total War Saga will focus on smaller conflicts in history, instead of the grand sagas seen in the core titles.
"Sagas won't be revolutionary new titles or introduce brand-new eras," explained game director Jack Lusted via Eurogamer. "They'll follow-on from previous Total War games and inhabit the same time-period, or at the very least relate to it. But these are certainly Total War games."
"We've got more games in production than we've ever had before," he continued. "And historical games form the majority of our forthcoming releases. We thought that badging these 'A Total War Saga' would help players understand that they are a spin-off and not the next major title."
The first Saga will release before Total War’s next mainline historical entry.
Creative Assembly is currently working on fantasy title Total War: Warhammer 2, which is slated to release in September. You can watch the first in-engine trailer here.
