Assassin’s Creed Origins: World Is ‘at Least Twice the Size’ of Black Flag’s

If you come to Ubisoft’s games for the size and scope of their worlds, then it looks like Assassin’s Creed: Origins won’t disappoint. In an interview with Game Informer, director Ashraf Ismail said that the game’s world is much bigger than that of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

"If I compare it to previous games in the past, I don't actually know the exact numbers [for Origins], but I would say that it's at least twice the size of Havana from Black Flag," Ismail said. "At least."

"Having said that, I don't think of the size of the city is what matters," Ismail continued. "It's really the content, the experience that you have inside of it. It's how alive it is. So we filled these locations with quests, with making each city feel unique to itself, why was it important to Egypt."

The interview also went into more details about the nuts-and-bolts of the game. As collated by GameSpot:

  • The map will be “pretty much” open after an introductory sequence.
  • There will be aesthetic customisation options.
  • Ismail wants people to be surprised by the modern day elements, that’s why they’re not talking about it.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 27. You can read our hands-on thoughts of the game here.

Everyone: "C'mon Ubisoft, please don't f*ck it up."

Ubisoft: "Guys the map is big."

Everyone: "We don't care about the size, Ubisoft, it’s how you use it.."

Ubisoft: ... "Guys it's REALLY big."

At least it sounds like they're starting to listen.

Last Assassins Creed I finished was the original two years ago as part of my decade pile of shame. Might be the right time to give it another go as I'm quite the Ancient Egypt enthusiast.

I like the new location, most of the games were situated in europe which made most of the games feel to similar for me, thats probably why I really enjoyed Black Flag, this one looks like its gonna be great as well
