Ubisoft Hasn't Ruled Out Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell

Ubisoft Hasn't Ruled Out Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell

During an interview with IGN, Ubisoft Montreal's CEO Yannis Mallat opened up about franchises we haven't seen in a while, and what it'll take to see them back:

"I like to think of the studio as a huge...creative collective. So, if some of the creative comes to us and says 'Hey, by the way, I have this crazy idea' about a brand that we haven't done anything with for many years, we will listen."

While Mallet admitted finances are certainly a concern - a game's conception ultimately starts with the brainstormers:

"There is a question of does it make sense, is there a market, but it's open for the creatives to propose something."

"One of the best commitments we [made] was to nurture the creative side of the studio and make sure we build an environment where the people feel empowered, feel free to try, feel free to fail, feel free to express themselves."

The last Prince of Persia game released 7 years ago, and was met with mixed reception, and Splinter Cell hasn't seen another game since Blacklist in 2013. You can find out what our writer, Matthew Codd, thought about the game here.

Still haven't played Blacklist. Didn't like the last Prince of Persia. Would be great to see more of both those franchises.

Blacklist is the best modern stealth game I've ever played. Been hoping for a sequel forever.

And please bring back Prince of Persia!

Two damn good franchises, that probably just need more care to make a better game from them. I certainly look forward to both of them making a comeback after a hiatus , as long as they have a decent budget with a good dev team
