Black Ops 3 to Get Remastered Call of Duty Zombies Maps as DLC

Following on from a leaked ESRB rating, developer Treyarch officially announced today that Call of Duty: Black Ops III will be receiving a DLC pack that remasters some older Zombies-mode maps.

"One thing we realized was that a lot of our fans have come in later, come in at Black Ops II, or even Black Ops III," said studio head Jason Blundell in an interview with YouTuber JCBackfire. "So those early storyline concepts, those early concepts that really set down the foundation of Zombies--a lot of people hadn't experienced them."

The maps will only be from Treyarch-developed Call of Duty titles. Here’s the full list, via GameSpot:

  • Nacht der Untoten (World at War)
  • Kino der Toten (World at War)
  • Verruckt (World at War)
  • Shi no Numa (World at War)
  • Shangri-la (Black Ops)
  • Moon (Black Ops)
  • Ascension (Black Ops)
  • Origins (Black Ops II)

Zombie Chronicles is set to release on PlayStation 4 on May 16. Xbox One or PC versions haven’t been announced, but Sony does have an early exclusivity deal with Call of Duty’s DLC; quite often other platforms will receive it a month later.

No New Zealand date or pricing has been confirmed. We’ll keep you updated when that information becomes available.

This project is unrelated to the recently announced Call of Duty: WW2. That game is set to release later this year, and is being developed by Sledgehammer Games.

Wait a minute......... NO CALL OF THE DEAD? To me that was one of the best Black Ops Zombies map made, having Romero constantly chasing you, and the large size of the map really made it a challenge, and the cast made it fun too. sad that its not on the list there.

Someone said its because it doesn't actually have the original 4 guys, hence why Origins made it but Buried or Mob of the Dead didn't.

Just goes to show Blops3 really is the best CoD yet if they're still adding DLC to 2-year old game for a franchise that typically only releases DLC the same year. Blops2 also just got backwards compatibility for XBO, hoping the same will come to PS4 soon.

Makes sense I guess if they're trying to make this dedicated to the original 4 from world at war, but imagining what the price point will be, lets estimate between $30-60, maybe even more potentially, seems like a cop out, they could of added them in and just put them under a different menu labelled side stories etc. I got a refund for my Black Ops 3 a few days after buying so won't be picking this up, will stick to backwards compatible titles
