Following on from a leaked ESRB rating, developer Treyarch officially announced today that Call of Duty: Black Ops III will be receiving a DLC pack that remasters some older Zombies-mode maps.
"One thing we realized was that a lot of our fans have come in later, come in at Black Ops II, or even Black Ops III," said studio head Jason Blundell in an interview with YouTuber JCBackfire. "So those early storyline concepts, those early concepts that really set down the foundation of Zombies--a lot of people hadn't experienced them."
The maps will only be from Treyarch-developed Call of Duty titles. Here’s the full list, via GameSpot:
Zombie Chronicles is set to release on PlayStation 4 on May 16. Xbox One or PC versions haven’t been announced, but Sony does have an early exclusivity deal with Call of Duty’s DLC; quite often other platforms will receive it a month later.
No New Zealand date or pricing has been confirmed. We’ll keep you updated when that information becomes available.
This project is unrelated to the recently announced Call of Duty: WW2. That game is set to release later this year, and is being developed by Sledgehammer Games.
