Tomb Raider Film’s Star Gets First Showing

Warner Bros. have released an official photo from their upcoming Tomb Raider movie, featuring actor Alicia Vikander as the iconic Lara Croft. She's sporting the character's outfit from the 2013 reboot, even down to the climbing pick accessory.

“This movie will introduce Lara as a young woman who hasn’t yet found her way and her place in the world; a young woman with great spirit and potential,” said director Roar Uthaug in an interview with GQ. “We follow her struggles and her journey toward becoming the person she was meant to be and earning the role of Tomb Raider.”

As Polygon reports, the film is currently being shot in South Africa. Not much else is known about the plot, but Dominic West (The Wire) is set to play Lara’s father.

Tomb Raider will release in 2018.

Looks very realistic and believable (unlike Angelina Jolie). Tomb Raider brought to (real) life.

Love the aesthetic. Not sure I buy into her face from that 1 pic , its the one thing in the photo that irks me a bit but everything else is perfect, need a few more and a trailer to see how she works it, but I'm very hopeful this will be a great movie.

Hopefully this movie is better than the Angelina Jolie versions. I didn't really enjoy them so shouldn't be hard to do a better job.
