Bloodstained Cancelled for Wii U, Gets Switch Version Instead

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night – the crowdfunded, spiritual successor to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night – has been cancelled on the Wii U. The flipside to that announcement is that the game will be making its way to Nintendo’s latest system the Switch.

"During our Kickstarter campaign, the Wii U was at the height of its popularity, but the situation has drastically changed after the release of Nintendo Switch," creator Koji Igarashi shared in a Kickstarter update.

"This change made it difficult to receive the necessary support from the hardware maker, which has led us to drop the Wii U development and shift the development to Nintendo Switch."

If you backed the game in hopes of getting the Wii U version, some plans are in place.

  • You’ll be eligible for a full refund. You must send an email to with the subject line "Bloodstained Wii U refund.” before April 20, 2017. You must use the email tied to your PayPal account.
  • You can opt for another platform instead; Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC, or Vita.

If you don’t act, your Wii U order will automatically be changed to the Switch version of the game.

Was going to say it would be rough on the WiiU owners that funded it, but at least they have an out option so to say.

A kick in the teeth for WiiU owners but I can understand the devs don't want to waste money bringing it to a platform Nintendo is soon gonna stop production on. Good of them to offer refunds, I don't often hear of that.
