The Evil Within 2 Might Be in the Works

It looks like a sequel to Tango Gameworks’ psychological horror title The Evil Within could be on the way, at least according to a leaked job description. This would fill a gap in publisher Bethesda’s E3 lineup, as currently their largest title Prey is set to release well-before the conference.

In a listing obtained by NeoGAF (via IGN), the position is for QA and translation of Psycho Break 2 – the Japanese name for The Evil Within. Targeted platforms include PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The first game was cross-generational, launching on PS3, 360, PC, and modern consoles.

Bethesda’s vice president Pete Hines spoke last year about sequels to 2011’s Rage and 2014’s The Evil Within. He said that “both [franchises] did well enough that we could make sequels,” but he neither confirmed nor denied that they were in the works.

We reviewed The Evil Within when it launched, scoring it an 8.0. Reviewer Hadyn Green compared the game to a haunted house ride, more than a traditional survival horror.

Loved it, especially after they added the option to take away the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. And if you play it now on a PS4 Pro, it runs smooth as butter with Boost Mode enabled. Will definitely be picking up the sequel!

Interesting. I honestly found the dlc more enjoyable than the base game so if this is happening I hope they bring in some of the aspects from that.

Agreed! I actually bought the game, but it sat in my draw for ages. Then when I saw that the patch was released, I fired it up. Great game, and would play a sequel for sure.
