Overwatch’s Director Talks Switch Version

Playing Overwatch on your Switch isn’t out of the question, but it sounds unlikely, according to Jeff Kaplan. Commenting on Reddit (via NeoGAF), the colourful first-person shooter’s director clarified.

"Getting Overwatch on the Switch is very challenging for us," Kaplan shared. "But we're always open-minded about exploring possible platforms."

Kaplan also added that he is “loving the Switch,” and that his second favourite gaming platform is Nintendo’s handheld 3DS.

As GameSpot points out, Overwatch was Blizzard’s first new franchise in 17 years. The game launched on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in May 2016. According to the developer, the team-based shooter has 25 million registered players.

New tank character Orisa is set to arrive for the shooter soon. She’s currently playable on the Public Test Realm.

This is a downside of going with lower spec. hardware. Overwatch would work work well with Nintendo fans I think.

Yeah, I agree and that graphic style would still look great at a lower poly count or whatever they'd have to do to get it running on Switch!

Being a online only game, it would essentially make this a docked/ wifi only game. Half the pitch of the console is that it is both a portable and a docked console for every game.
