Valve Is Making Three VR Games

If you were wondering what Valve is working on – apart from not making Half-Life 3 – VR seems to be their prime focus. In an interview with Eurogamer, the company’s founder Gabe Newell told the publication that they’re working on three virtual reality titles.

“When I say we’re building three games, we’re building three full games, not experiments,” he said. “One of the questions you might be asking is ‘Why in the world would you be making hardware?’ What we can do now is we can be designing hardware at the same time that we’re designing software.”

Valve appears to be taking a page out of Nintendo’s book – the company often creates games alongside new hardware.

“This is something that Miyamoto has always had. He’s had the ability to think about what the input device is and design a system while he designs games,” Newell said. “Our sense is that this will actually allow us to build much better entertainment experiences for people.”

Newell didn’t go into further detail about the games, but did note that they’re being built on both Source 2 and Unity engines.

Valve has pushed the pc platform into a monster bigger than the consoles, Steam has basically saved pc gaming, so that's cool i guess. Let's see if they can push vr to a massive degree and make a sweet profit in doing so.

Considering that consoles and games are made on PCs, it's wayyy more impressive that consoles became such a big thing.

I hope they're awesome, the only valve game that I couldn't get into (that I've actually played) was Half-Life 2 it just wasn't fun (to me).

For those interested I've only played: HL 1&2, Portal 1&2, L4D2, and TF2

Something from valve could finally be the thing that makes VR a big mainstream idea. Super intrigued to see what they release

I disagree, it's easy to market a "gaming box" that's meant to just play games to people, it's hard to market a "pc that can do everything and be great at gaming for the same price as a console" it's were the thought of, consoles are FUR REAL GAMURZ. when Most of the pro's(and the best ones mind) choose pc, do you consider pros "real gamers"? i guess they enjoy having the best equipment :L

What i find impressive is how long they lock away exclusives for, years! it's indeed impressive :D

One of them better be Half Life 3, Portal 3, Left for Dead 3! Ill even accept Team Fortress 3.
If all of them are new franchises and they have left off what consumers want then Gabe and Valve have some serious explaining to do to save face.

Whoopdeedoo good for you that you disagree. Congrats.
PC has been a giant since its birth and is synonymous with the term 'computer games', Personal Computer, non personal computer, games. Average consumers don't care if a machine can or can't run a game, all they see is the exclusive experiences and childhood franchises on a console. Any other considerations come 2nd. 'Videogames' came later but can apply to both. That's not PC or console's fault, that's just someone having a bright af idea to make money, because PC didn't have to worry about any of that at the time.

You can't play the victim card for the juggernaut that is PC, Easily the first time I've ever heard someone show worry for a machine that every household has (multiple copies of, in fact) jajaja huehue. Now that's impressive.
