Developer Yacht Club Games confirmed that Shovel Knight – their punishingly hard, retro-inspired platformer – will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch. The game will also be getting re-branded, alongside a new pricing structure.
As Eurogamer reports, the game will be making its way to the Switch, but redubbed Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. This will be a collection, containing the base game and its two DLC campaigns. PS4, Xbox One, and PC/Mac/Linux users will also see this change, with each part of the pack being offered as a standalone purchase.
To be more in line with the naming convention of the DLCs (Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows and Shovel Knight: Spectre of Torment), the base game will carry the subtitle Shovel of Hope.
If you already own the base game and its DLC, you’ll automatically be upgraded to the Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove bundle.
"We hope providing less expensive standalone versions will provide better entry points for different types of players!" Yacht Club explained on its official blog. "Also, players can more easily grab an adventure (or Battle Mode) on another platform!"
Because of this change in structure, the price of Shovel Knight will also be increasing once the bundle releases.
In addition, the game will be getting two-player co-op for all systems (excluding 3DS and Vita). A Body Swap mode is also being introduced, letting players change character model.
