[UPDATE] Scalebound Has Been Cancelled

UPDATE: Microsoft confirmed to Windows Central that Scalebound has been cancelled. Below is the official statement:

After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for "Scalebound." We're working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including "Halo Wars 2," "Crackdown 3," "State of Decay 2," "Sea of Thieves" and other great experiences.

Original story follows:

It appears that character action game Scalebound – the Microsoft exclusive, slated for Xbox One and PC – may be cancelled, according to several sources close to Kotaku.

Official news is expected to arrive later. When Kotaku reached out to Microsoft, they were supplied with this brief statement:

We’ll have more to share on ‘Scalebound’ soon.

Scalebound is being developed by Platinum Games, better known for their work on other stylish action games like Bayonetta. Game director Hideki Kamiya showcased the game at the Xbox E3 2014 press event. Since then, the game has been delayed several times into 2017.

No news about the game has surfaced in months. The game was missing from Xbox Wire’s post last week about the future of Xbox One titles. Further, some of the official Scalebound pages has been removed from the Xbox website.

We’ll keep you updated as more news becomes available.

Kotaku is pretty bad. Scalebound will be a good game for me as a Microsoft exclusive. Show me the originality of Xbox :D

Just wanted to add that I too was looking forward to this game. And disagree that Xbox has been a mess - sometimes games get cancelled. Have loved every second of my Xbox since I got it at launch!

Was originally interested in this, then I saw a bit of the game play through a video and then was less interested as it didn't look like the style I would enjoy. Disappointing news for the development team I am sure..

Sucks, Xbox needs more Japanese-style games.

Think I'm going to skip Scorpio now. Gears 4 was boring and so was Halo 5, apart from Forza Horizon series there is nothing exclusive wise for me on Xbox anymore. All the games I play are 3rd party games that look better on PS4 and have bigger player bases there too.

Not arguing or anything.

What games are you referring to?

This sucks especially after all the showings at E3 and Gamescom got me hyped. Would love to know what actually went on between Platinum and Xbox that ended up with this mess.
