Pokémon Go’s ‘Nearby’ Feature Rolls Out to the US, Parts of Europe

Developer Niantic have re-introduced the “Nearby” feature for select Pokémon Go regions. The feature – which shows the types of monsters that can be caught at surrounding landmarks – was removed from the game at launch.

In an announcement on their site, the developer stated that they've rolled it out to players in the United States, and some parts of Europe. Some users are already reporting successes with the system, while others – namely those in rural areas – are having troubles.

At of the time of writing, the feature is currently unavailable in New Zealand, with the “Sightings” system still firmly in place.

It’s unclear when the feature will roll out in New Zealand, but we’ll update you when it does.

Is the feature too-little-too-late for the augmented reality monster catching game? Is it enough to bring you back in? Or is your Pokedex full enough? Let us know in the comments below!

Between the thanksgiving double points, ditto's inclusion and the daily catch bonus I am back playing it. The app does not run well on my phone and log in takes over a minute, but for some reason I keep going back.

I've not read a lot of positive feedback on this new feature. Great for if you are around pokestops but if you are far away from one, not so flash.

Worse in rural areas? I literally have no Pokemon within 1km and it's about 1km to the next one from that spot. Ooooooover it

That particular tracking feature wasn't removed at launch; it was only ever in beta for some regions or players.
The other main tracking feature with teh radar giving distances was removed at launch.

There look like some benefits but yeah, rural players have been hating on this new update.

That's weird, I thought at the beginning of the Pokemon Go project they said that anyone would be able to walk outside and find a pokemon in 5 minutes.

Might need to reinstall this app again. Seems like they're bringing good changes.
