Telltale’s Third Season of The Walking Dead Gets Release Date

Developer Telltale Games announced today that A New Frontier – season three of their The Walking series – will premiere on December 20. Before that however, we’ll get an extended look at the first episode on December 1, live during The Game Awards.

From the press release:

When family is all you have left... how far will you go to protect it? Four years after society was ripped apart by undead hands, pockets of civilization emerge from the chaos. But at what cost? Can the living be trusted on this new frontier? As Javier, a young man determined to find the family taken from him, you meet a young girl who has experienced her own unimaginable loss. Her name is Clementine, and your fates are bound together in a story where every choice you make could be your last.

On February 7, physical copies for the season will be made available. It will contain the first episode, as well as downloadable access to subsequent ones when they become available.

So does that mean that Javier is the new playable character or is it still Clementine?

I have to imagine it centres on him? Solves the issue of fans wanting Clementine, without having to track two games worth of choices tied to her character.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Telltale said previously that you play as both Javier and Clementine, switching between them at certain points. Like Rhys and Fiona in Tales from the Borderlands.

Why do they even bother with physical when the game isn't even fully released?

As others have said, Telltale confirmed a couple months ago (I think it was at E3 when they released the first teaser trailer, which introduced Javier) that both Clementine AND Javier will be playable in this new season. Seriously looking forward to this one.
