I'm pleasantly surprised to see AM2R and Pokemon Uranium in Best Fan Creation category. They're both fantastic, and certainly deserve to be there, but given Nintendo's reaction to them, I'm still surprised.

Sad to see the usual over-representation of Western-developed blockbusters, but at least a few indie and Japanese games made the cut.

"Best Direction" still feels like double-dipping with GOTY, since the criteria are basically identical. Also, how does a game get nominated for GOTY and not Best Direction (Inside) and vice versa (Battlefield 1)?

"An upcoming game that has shown significant ambition and promise in moving the gaming medium forward."

Nominated: RDR2, which has had one trailer that has shown nothing more than environments. Ambition and promise right there.

It's funny how that word is censored, because if it wasn't you wouldn't even think of the word it thinks it's censoring, but now you are because of it lol

Its a popularity contest rather than an actual game awards.

Uncharted 4 for GoTY?

Ugh I hope not, it looks beautiful don't get me wrong but otherwise it just felt like more of the same. Doom winning on the otherhand would be a pleasant surprise.

Best RPG witcher 3 or xenoblade. That's a tough one. Witcher has more polish but xenoblade has the ambition. I'm surprised neither are in game of the year.

A bit lame that Deus Ex: MD only got one nomination and its not even GOTY and I thought Danny was a part of Gamespot, guess he must be doing his own thing now.

Nevermind, AM2R and Pokemon Uranium have been removed. The two most deserving nominees out of the whole awards show...
