In a behind-closed-doors event at Steam Dev Days, developer and gaming giant Valve revealed that they are currently working on new controllers for the Vive – their virtual reality headset. As can be pictured above (image from Max Weisel on Twitter), they appear to be significantly smaller than the current ones. The original controllers can be seen below.
As Kotaku notes, another big feature seems to be the ability to open your hand without dropping them due to the palm attachment. If the controller can track your hand being open or closed, it could more naturally replicate actual hand movement.
Regarding pricing and availability, Valve representative Doug Lombadri told the publication that they are “focused on gathering feedback on the design prototype at this point.” He added that more details will be given soon.
