DualShock 4 USB Wireless Adaptor Announced

DualShock 4 USB Wireless Adaptor Announced

Sony announced the existence of a Dualshock 4 USB wireless adaptor today. The device allows you to connect the PlayStation 4 controller to your PC wirelessly. It will be available on our shores on September 16 for the suggested retail price of $39.95 NZD.

From the press release:

The new adaptor makes it possible to connect your DUALSHOCK®4 wireless controller to your PC or Mac via Bluetooth®, enhancing compatible applications including PlayStation®4 (PS4™) Remote Play on Windows PC and Mac. With the Adaptor you can enjoy a cable-free Remote Play experience, with all the intuitive features of the DUALSHOCK®4 wireless controller at your fingertips.

A growing number of PC games also support the DualShock 4 natively, like The Witcher 3.

It was also announced that PlayStation Now – Sony’s game streaming service – would be making its way to PC. However, New Zealander’s still don’t have access to the service.

OMG WHAT A DAY TO BE ALIVE. I can finally ditch the shady Bluetooth usb. Slight regret but at least it was cheap.
I'm a sucker for authentic hardware so I'll bite the bait and pay this premium. Can wait for a special sale though.

I'll hop on PC Rocket League happily next time I play.

I still don't have a decent enough internet connection for the remote play. I think I'll stick with my wired 360 controller. If I can find it...

Sold, often kicked out of the lounge and end up gaming via remote play on the MAC. Days of me being tethered by a crappy wire will be gone!

I can't connect Remote Play from my PC at work, therefore I have no use for it.

That's what I get for not researching. I take it back. If this is only compatible with PS Now for a very long time and doesn't better than a normal Bluetooth on Steam, then it's a no D:

You can, but there aren't any official drivers or anything for it, so its use is kind of limited.

It might have been nice for Sony to put together a software solution rather than asking people to drop a $40 dongle that's probably going to get lost...

I'm amazed it taken so long to come out but it's great for PS gamers.
