The Mass Effect series could be getting remasters, according to an interview with EA from Game Informer. While the publisher claimed last year that they would prefer to focus on new projects, executive vice president for EA told the publication during Gamescom this week that they may move into that space.
“What's changed is that there is proof in the market that people want it, maybe more than there was when we spoke,” said Soderlund during the interview. “There were some that did it before, but I think there is even more clear evidence that this is something that people really want.”
“The honest answer is that we are absolutely actively looking at it,” he continued. “I can't announce anything today, but you can expect us most likely to follow our fellow partners in Activision and other companies that have done this successfully.”
Soderlund went on to say that if they do tackle remasters, they want to “do it really well.”
Mass Effect: Andromeda – the latest game in the franchise – is slated to release March 2017.
