No Man’s Sky Livestream

Still on the fence about Hello Games' sci-fi explorer? Well today we streamed the opening hour of No Man’s Sky so you can decide for yourself.

No Man’s Sky is set to release tomorrow (Wednesday, August 10) for PlayStation 4. PC users can expect the game on August 13.

Our review for the game will be delayed, as multiple press outlets received their copies late. We felt that there was no way to write a review that would be fair to the developer’s vision of the final product – or what the majority of players have access to – in such a tight time frame.

Tell him you'll quit if he doesn't let you watch?

(Disclaimer: this will only work if you are fairly irreplaceable as an employee.)

Just a bit of an update: Sony's servers seem to be taking a bit of a hit.

I'm going to skip this for now, it's hard to see the point of discovering/naming stuff when you're never going to revisit it and the universe is so large that no one else is likely to find the same stuff. I guess it's a bit like the tree falling in the woods, if you name something but no one ever sees it then have you really named it?

That said, I think it looks gorgeous, just a shame to my eyes that it's been hyped as a AAA title when it is really an Indie game that would/should have had a smaller but fanatical audience. I think some people will love it but more people are going to come away disappointed at the slightly aimless repetitive nature of the game.

The shooting and flying both look very basic and the joy seems to be from the sense of scale and losing yourself in quiet exploration but the hype has people expecting an epic space adventure rather than a vast but rather lonely universe.
