The E3 reveal of a Spider-Man game for PS4 came completely out of left field, and was instantly a hit on the internet. Chasing up on that popularity, developer Insomniac Games revealed on Twitter today that the footage we saw was in-game, running on the standard PlayStation 4 hardware – not the NEO.

Insomniac have always been lauded (along with the likes of Naughty Dog) for knowing how to push systems to their limits to get the best visuals. If the trailer – and this announcement – is any indication, that trend doesn’t look to be slowing down.
The game won’t have any connection with the upcoming Spider-Man movie – instead focusing on a new world and story. It will also feature an older, more experienced Peter Parker, so an origin story seems out of the question.
